Pistarckle Theater Revisits Love Letters
Two Actors, Two Shows, Two Locations
On November 13 & 15, 2015 Pistarckle Theater will be reviving Love Letters with two performances only. Not part of the regular season, the shows will be at Pistarckle Theater on the 13th at 8PM and on the 15th at 7PM the show will grace Water Island at the Honeymoon Beach Pavilion. The parts of Andy and Melissa will be played by local celebrities Nikki Emerich, founder of Pistarckle Theater, and Richard Doumeng of Bolongo Bay Resort. Tickets are only $20 for the Water Island performance and $25 for the Pistarckle Theater show.
In honor of Gene Lancaster, the last man to play the role of Andy at Pistarckle Theater, $5 from each ticket sold to the St. Thomas show will be donated to the Gene Lancaster Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was started this summer after Gene’s untimely death just two weeks after his masterful performance in Love Letters. The fund assists Virgin Islands students who are financially unable to follow their dreams in theater by studying in Pistarckle Theater Education Programs.
A unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, "needs no theatre, no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines, and no commitment from its two actors beyond the night of performance." The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between a man and a woman who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.
